(RNS) A federal court has ruled that the Flying Spaghetti Monster, referred to as “His Flying Noodliness” by fans and followers, is not, alas, the object of a real religion.

In a 16-page decision, the U.S. District Court of Nebraska ruled on April 12 that Pastafarianism is satire, not sacred, and that anyone who thinks it is a religion has made an error “of basic reading comprehension.”

  1. In the beginning the universe was cold, dark, and empty but the noodleship had a plan.He said let there be 2 cold meatballs and they appeared,he was pleased with this.He decided to call them Earth and Moon.He would put life on Earth and make their DNA shaped like pasta and blood to look like sauce. He was pleased with this. His creation needed light and heat,he said'let there be a larger over cooked meatball'.He called this meatball 'Sun'and he was pleased with this. And that is how the universe was created.

  2. I completely agree, but I think it is also VERY easy to distinguish between the "real religious" from ancient times, and the modern satire created to mock them. I think a better argument would be to make it personal. Let's say the judge is Christian, as he most likely is… He believes Christianity is true and all other religions are false – yet he still holds other religions up with the same special treatment as Christianity? If Islam, for instance, is just as false (fictional) as Pastafarianism – compared to the supposed truth of Christianity – how is it that you have the right to make the distinction between them – they are not YOUR religions. That is an abuse of power in favor of personal believes rather than upholding the rights of all citizens.

  3. They ban it because they know FSM is the real God! Why else would they care what pastafarians believe? It's a war on our faith.

  4. This doesn't surprise me at all. I think the problem is that Pastafarianism is not an "organized" religion. If it got big enough with a substantial amount of followers, they would be forced to acknowledge it along with all the other bunch of ridiculous belief systems.

  5. The person in the video completely missed the point…and he accuses others of doing the same.

Religious beliefs are only respected because they are held convictions. That pasta thing is not. It's painfully simple.

  6. Talk about fictional religions…

    BAN THEM ALL!!!!!

  7. Pastafarianism actually has a lot in common with Christianity. Jesus was in the Roman empire. You know that the Romans are? Italian. You know what is Italian? Spaghetti.

  8. As a HIGH Princess Of The Church Of The Flying Spaghetti Monster I say PASTAphemy!

PASTAphemy: The act or offence of speaking sacrilegiously
about The Flying Spaghetti Monster and his noodle appendages and sacred sauce
    in a profane manner.
We are a loving religion. WE forgive your errors….:)
